Ukrainian military registration status from abroad: how to find out what the TCC has on you

For Ukrainian men living abroad, military registration is no longer a formality. Under martial law, consulates check the military registration documents of men aged 18–60, and a new checking procedure has applied since 8 August 2026. A “wanted” status or a note that your data must be updated can come as a surprise exactly when you need a passport or a power of attorney.

What you can see yourself

The Reserve+ app shows your data from the “Oberih” register of conscripts, persons liable for military service and reservists: your registration category, the territorial recruitment centre (TCC) you are registered with, any deferment and any recorded breach of registration rules. The reason for a breach is shown in the extended electronic military registration document. Start there. But the app does not contain the underlying documents on which a record is based.

When you need official information from the TCC

  • Reserve+ shows “wanted” and the explanation in the app is not enough;
  • you need proof that you were removed or excluded from the register (for example, by age or health);
  • you need to know whether a deferment was granted and on what grounds;
  • the data in the app does not match your documents;
  • you need the TCC’s answer for a court, a complaint or a consulate.

Consular services: what changed

Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 981 of 29 July 2026 introduced a new checking procedure, in force since 8 August 2026. For most consular acts, men aged 18–60 present a valid military registration document in electronic form (a printout is accepted); a paper document is provided for those registered with the SBU or intelligence agencies. The consulate checks it via e-Consul (where technically possible) or by QR code. If there is no document, it is invalid, or the register says your data must be updated, the consular act is refused. Some acts are exempt. So it is better to sort out your status in advance, not at the consulate counter.

How to get the information without travelling to Ukraine

Your own request to the TCC

You can write to your TCC by post or electronically asking for information about yourself. The request must allow the TCC to identify you (full name, date of birth, document details, signature); a Ukrainian qualified e-signature is the most reliable option, but not the only one. The legal deadline is up to 30 calendar days, and in practice TCCs do not always reply on time.

A lawyer’s request

A Ukrainian lawyer sends the request to the TCC in their own name under an agreement with you. The general deadline is 5 working days; for large volumes of information the authority may extend it to 20 working days by notifying the lawyer in writing. The lawyer asks about your registration category, deferment, and removal or exclusion from the register. What the answer contains depends on the data the authority holds and on legal limits on access to register data: a partial answer or a reasoned refusal is possible. Everything is done online — the agreement and the consent to process personal data are signed remotely.

What a lawyer’s request does not do

It is important to know the limits. A lawyer’s request is a way to obtain information, not to change it:

  • on its own it does not replace the statutory application for a deferment — an approach reflected in the Supreme Court ruling of 7 November 2024 (case No. 340/2502/23);
  • it does not replace an application to correct the register — that requires a separate reasoned application to the body that keeps it (Kharkiv District Administrative Court, 30 October 2025, case No. 520/15787/25);
  • it does not by itself remove a “wanted” status.

What the TCC’s official answer can do is help establish what is on record and on what basis. If that is not enough, further applications or legal steps may be needed — updating your data, an application, a complaint or a court claim.

How to order a request online

On our site you can order a lawyer’s request about your military registration status from any country. You choose your TCC in the form. The price is UAH 4,000 per request. The TCC’s reply arrives in your personal account. We are not a government service: we pass on the authority’s official answer and do not promise any particular outcome.
