A taxpayer identification number (RNOKPP, the "identification code") lets a foreigner open a bank account, work, buy property or a car, obtain a residence permit or sign contracts.
Where to get it
At any regional office of the State Tax Service. Foreigners with a temporary or permanent residence permit may apply at the place of residence stated in the permit. If you are abroad, the code can be obtained through a Ukrainian consulate.
Documents required
- the foreigner's passport;
- a notarised Ukrainian translation of the passport and its copy (not needed if you hold a residence permit);
- an application in the prescribed form (filled in on site).
Through a representative
You can obtain the code without being present — through a representative with a notarised power of attorney for registration in the State Register of Individual Taxpayers.
The procedure is set by the Regulation approved by Ministry of Finance Order No. 822 of 29.09.2017. Official information: tax.gov.ua.
